THE SCIENCE OF GETTING

RICH

Here's something I had heard of before and, although it doesn't exactly fit the content of this site, I though it might provide a bit of light relief. And it is about money after all

The other day I was reminded about it from a friend who was quite excited by it although it was rather ancient. I decided to have a look at it. Well, it was old all right. In fact it was written way back in 1910 by a real genius with the unlikely name of Wallace D Wattles.

It has been around the Web for some time and been blogged frequently so I thought it would be a novel idea to include it here and invite you to download it. Who knows -- it might indeed make some of us rich -- but if not that, it might serve to take your minds off your financial woes for a while -- and that itself would be worth the reading.

These are the very first words in the Preface:

"This book is pragmatical, not philosophical; a practical manual, not a treatise upon theories. It is intended for the men and women whose most pressing need is for money; who wish to get rich first, and philosophize afterwards.

It is for those who have, so far, found neither the time, the means nor the opportunity to go deeply into the study of metaphysics, but who want results and who are willing to take the conclusions of science as a basis for action, without going into all the processes by which those conclusions were reached."

Well. that probably covers most of us!

And again --

"The ownership of money and property comes as a result of doing things in a certain way. Those who do things in this certain way, whether on purpose or accidentally, get rich. Those who do not do things in this certain way, no matter how hard they work or how able they are, remain poor.

It is a natural law that like causes always produce like effects. Therefore, any man or woman who learns to do things in this certain way will infallibly get rich."

Wallace D. Wattles, The Science of Getting Rich, Chapter 2

Fighting words indeed.
